The Jean Luc Chocoalte – Earl Grey Tea infused dark chocolate ganache from Master Chocolat – Bernard Callebaut Fine Handmade Chocolate
Other people’s birthdays are an excellent excuse to buy yourself chocolate -right?
My aunt’s birthday was a little bit ago, and so my mum and I went out to get her a gift – and decided on nice chocolate. We’d seen Master Chocolat at a holiday market, and the staff person said that they were located near Chinook Centre – so when I looked them up, I didn’t even think about the semi-industrial area the map was pointing to…
Well we found ourselves at their 4th Street SE bay factory – which does have a small (like, think one half-bookshelf) display of items for sale, but not really a workable option for a birthday gift! The office person pointed us to the Calgary Farmers Market instead, where Master Chocolat has a nice, large, well-stocked booth.

Like Bernard Callebaut’s previous businesses… the chocolates are at a premium price, but have unique, interesting flavours, beautiful presentation, and are displayed beautifully. We selected out a “pink” theme of chocolates, since we weren’t entirely sure which flavours she would like the best, and created a personalized box just for her.

Of course… this means we also had to get a few chocolates each for ourselves… I went for an Earl Grey-flavoured chocolate I’ve had and loved before, the “Venus” chocolate (pictured above with the pretty flowers on the bottom left) which have organic rose petals infused into white chocolate ganache, and “Lavende” – a lavender infused cream in milk chocolate ganache.
