My last post wasn’t very positive I’m afraid… but in contrast, I’m back writing about Kruse’s Bakery again. I’m pretty sure this is one of my favourite bakeries in Calgary (tied for the top spot with Gluten Free/Paleo/Vegan Nourish Kitchen & Bakery, and Glamorgan Bakery) There are a few favourite things I get nearly every time I visit (The lemon strudel) and then a few things I’ll pick up now and then… but there are also new things to try too.
For instance, they have rum balls… and whiskey balls, and amaretto balls. Now, admittedly, they all just taste like yummy boozy chocolatey deliciousness to me… but I love ANY place that is going to keep me in rum balls the other 11 months of the year when Glamorgan Bakery doesn’t. Bonus – no chocolate sprinkles, but instead a hard shell chocolate coating. YUM.
This time around I also picked up a quarter of a German-style cheesecake. I hoped it would be a little lighter, and a little cream-cheese-ier… so I topped it off with melted Nutella to add a little different flavour. It was super yummy!
