I mentioned in my last post that while in Iceland we were constantly on the look-out for licorice.. well we found it in a few different candy bars along with those delicious meringues..
Eittsett ( I wonder if this is pronounced “eats it”?) has a delicious solid bar of chocolate topped with a thin ribbon of licorice candy – this one was probably the favorite of the different ones I tried.
The Lakkris bar (below) is a solid chunk of licorice candy, with a chocolate coating.
I didn’t like this one nearly as much… I found the licorice a bit dry, and not chewy enough for a good compliment to the chocolate.
Lakkris Nizza is a kind of strange treat – this one is a solid chocolate, with a rope of chewy licorice candy running the length of it. How odd. The chocolate in this one didn’t seem as good as the Eittsett bar either, and the licorice was also a bit dry…
Rosa’s Freyju Lakkris Draumur is similar to the Nizza – but instead has two ropes of licorice. All of these were readily available at convenience stores, groceries, gas stations, etc… I only wish we had this much licorice selection in our average candy bar selection!
Lakriss coconut was similar to the other Lakkris bar, but had a layer of coconut cream on top of the licorice. I think I liked this one least of all – the coconut cream was similar to the kind found in those huge boxes of chocolates you get during the holidays as a gift…
Pretty short post today – sorry! Lots of other good things to come though!
