Here’s another tea shop for my ‘must-visit’ list – the Naked Leaf. I’m not sure how I missed it on my last trip into Kensington, but I did. What caught my attention is an upcoming event they’re hosting that I would love to attend…
The event is called FUNdraiser for Japan – and it’s a sushi-making and Japanese food evening. It’s set to be a hands-on sushi making class using less traditional sushi ingredients and more practical, every-day fillings. The host will also be serving miso soup, teriyaki chicken, dessert, and presumably – tea! The event is being hosted in support of fundraising for the Japanese Red Cross, there are 40 spots, it’s happening May 28th, and the cost is 50$ per person. Visit their website at http://www.thenakedleaf.ca/home.html for more information.
Their website is interesting – with every purchase you get a free tin to hold the tea with art from local Calgary artists. (You can also submit your own art as well for special occasions or whatever.)
